Since there are many iPod users and they are bound to need to know how to unfreeze their iPod, I thought that I would write a short article about the problem. Since there are several different Generations of the iPod then I will give the explanation on how to unfreeze an iPod Touch, iPod Nano (1st, 2nd and 3rd Generation) and the iPod Classic that I hope will help the bulk of the iPod users.

A frozen iPod can cause the avid user to become frustrated at a time when they depend on their iPod for relaxing music. When your iPod becomes frozen then you only need to reset it in order to get it to start working again for you.

The iPod Touch is one of the most favored iPods but can easily become frozen and it happens when you least expect it. It is not complicated to unfreeze a frozen iPod. It is a matter of pressing and holding the sleep button and home button together until the logo for Apple appears in the screen. This should unfreeze your frozen iPod instantly. If this does not work the first time then you may need to repeat the process several times. This is how to unfreeze an iPod; but for any reason that this method does not work then you should look into the probability of recharging your battery.

This step often needs repeated several times before you can actually unfreeze the frozen iPod and start reusing it again. You should check the charge in your battery if this does not work or considering recharging the battery in order to unfreeze the frozen iPod.

When it comes to the iPod Classic, you only need to follow the same procedure that you used for the other frozen iPods. It requires that you turn the HOLD switch off and on several times. Then you should press and hold both the Menu and Select buttons together until you see the logo from Apple. These steps may need repeated several times until the unit has become unfrozen.

My iPod Nano Won’t Turn On

So, your iPod Nano won’t turn on, huh? Well, before you start flipping out and vehemently calling for anti-Apple protests throughout your neighborhood as a result of your injustice, let’s just calm down and talk a bit, shall we?

Usually – nine times out of ten – if your iPod Nano won’t turn on, it either needs to be charged or jolted out of a deep, deep sleep state that it was put in somehow. Your iPod Nano not turning on does not mean that it’s completely bricked or broken, but it definitely may suggest this. Regardless, just prepare yourself for the likelihood that it’s completely broken. It’s much easier that way.

Fix iPod Nano Not Turning on

You can start by trying to charge it for a few minutes. Maybe even a half-hour – and then try turning it on. If this does not work, try the process of actually syncing your Nano as if you wanted to transfer songs or apps or games or movies from iTunes. This sometimes kicks the iPod out of a deep sleeplike state that it can be put in unwittingly.

If these two things don’t work then it may be time to call the Apple store. Yes, seriously. This may the very last thing you’d ever want to do, but you must admit that the people that work there – while sometimes smug, elitist and annoying – certainly know there stuff. And when it all comes down to it, you’ll just have to accept their help if it’s a choice between a broken iPod Nano and an eventually working iPod Nano.

Your best bet at this point is to call someone at your local Apple store and get their opinion on the matter. Be forewarned however – it’s definitely not cheap to fix. However it is much cheaper to fix than if you would have had to have bought a completely new iPod Nano.
