Want to know what the best apps currently are that are also free? Well, you’ve come to the right place! We’ve catalogued only the top iOS applicaitons that you can enjoy on your iPhone & iPod Touch but also made sure that each of them was also 100% free.

Without further ado, our 10 top free iPod Touch apps! (In no particular order)

10. Line2

Line2 essentially turns your iPod Touch into a phone, assigning it a real phone number with which to make calls and send and receive text messages (over Wi-Fi). To get all of the benefits, you’ll have to pay a fee but there’s enough features in the free version to make this one of the best free apps.

9. VLC

It’s common knowledge, practically – video and music files are certainly not something the iPod Touch can play very well. However, installing VLC will allow you to play practically any file type you can find!

8. Rdio

Next to iTunes, Rdio is arguably the best way to get music onto your iPod Touch. You can access a giant jukebox of music, play songs, albums or even make playlists. Does it get any better? We submit that it does not!

7. Feeddler

An attractive and very, VERY fast RSS reader for iOS, Feeddler offers excellent offline support and even syncs with Google Reader. Did we mention that it was remarkably fast? We did? Okay. Well it’s true – Feeddler is FAST!

6. Kindle

Essentially turn your iPod Touch into a Kindle e-reader. Complete with all of the bells and whistles, this app is really a no-brainer if you like to read e-books of any kind.

5. Evernote

With a tagline of “Remember Everything”, Evernote is awfully appealing to even the most ardent of memorizers. Create text, audio, photo and other types of notes quickly and easily. Upload them to your computer, mobile device or iPod and voila! You’ll remember whatever it was you thought so important that you should remember. Win!

4. Instagram

Not only take photos with your iPod Touch but also alter the photos looks to make them look old, edgy or Polaroid-ish. If you like to take photos then this is definitely an app for you!

3. Tripit

Stressful traveling made ridiculously easy. That’s all that needs to be said about this app.

2. Angry Birds

We told ourselves we wouldn’t include this app/game on the list, but we simply couldn’t do it. It’s TOO popular, entertaining and just downright fun. Go ahead and try it – just be forewarned… you’re absolutely guaranteed to get addicted. Just like everyone else!

1. Imo

Imo is an instant messaging client that lets you log-into AIM, Skype, Facebook Chat and even Google Talk (among many others). Yeah, we didn’t know about it until recently either – but now we both do. Good times!

You can now transfer your files from iPod to PC and vice versa using third-party iPod transfer software. The iPod to computer software can rip, copy and also backup the videos, music, photos and other podcasts from your computer to an iPod and also vice versa.

You can even group up the songs to iPod with the help of the iTunes. All the files are made in such a way that they are compatible with the iPod and they can be transferred to another copier iPod. In addition to this, the iPod transfer software that is used in the transfer can also transfer the files between two different iPods, and manage your iPhone as well.

The different iPhones that it can manage are the iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 4G as a removable disk. The iOS version 4.0.1(One of the latest firmware versions) is already supported by these software.

Transfer music using iTunes

It is very common to read the message forum on the transfer of music from an iPod to the iTunes library on a computer using iTunes. But Apple decided not to allow users of its player to do that from iTunes for example. It is quite possible that there is a clause in the contract prohibiting the iTMS Apple to help transfer music between iPod and computer using the software, for fear of “mass piracy” in the iTunes store purchases.

However, one can easily imagine situations where you might need to transfer music from your iPod to your computer:

• Following the forced formatting a hard disk, its music library is instantly recovered from the iPod;
• When buying a new computer: use your iPod to easily transfer their music library;
• Sharing iTMS-purchased songs on five computers which are authorized;
• Keep the same music library at work and at home.

What are Other iPod transfer softwares?

These are just some examples of legal transfers from the iPod to the computer that you can do using the iPod to computer software. Therefore, many developers have used the space left by Apple to provide freeware and shareware (from $5).

Here are some of the transfer programs:

• IPod Agent (PC): $15 shareware that offers many functions in addition to the transfer
• CopyTrans (PC): 14.9€ shareware offering varied features
• Senuti (Mac): free software with an interface very similar to iTunes, recovering playlists and offering a search function
• IPodRip (MAC) shareware $10 with a nice interface and a collection of playlists in iTunes
• PodUtil (MAC & PC): a shareware £10, offers powerful copy features and retrieving playlists from iTunes.

This list of the popular iPod transfer software is by no means an exhaustive one. These programs are highly popular with iPod and iPhone owners and can be easily got from the net. Alternatively, you can also purchase a copy of the full versions of these shareware from the manufactures.

Ever wonder how to delete songs from iPod so that you can do away with the existing numbers and replace them with new ones? It is really simple. It just takes you 2 minutes to learn the right procedure to remove songs from your iPod, so that you do not end up deleting songs you love.

There are basically two ways by which you can delete songs from iPod – manually, or automatically.

The manual way

1. First connect the iPod and open iTunes
2. Click ‘Edit’ on top
3. Opt for the iPod tab and select ‘Music’ tab there
4. You find an option- ‘Manually manage songs and playlists’. Select it.
5. When it is done, choose ‘Ok’
6. Go to left on the screen and select ‘Devices’
7. There you find an option- ‘Owner’s iPod’. If you have given a special name to your iPod, that name will appear in place of ‘Owner’s iPod’. Click it. Your list of songs in the iPod will be displayed
8. Select the song you want to delete. Give a right click. There will appear a drop-down menu. Go for the ‘delete’ option.

To delete multiple files, you can hold the Ctrl button, and click on all the songs that you wish to delete. You can also hold the Shift button, click on the first and last songs to select consecutive files (like an entire album). Then give a right click, and select the delete option. If you know how to delete songs from iPod like this, removing a track from a very recent version will be easier. You may have to skip steps 5 to 8 here.

When you set your iTunes settings to automatically sync your library with your device, the existing tracks and videos are automatically deleted from your iPod and the newer songs in your library is fed to your device.

It is also advisable that you learn how to remove music from iPod that are repeated or duplicated. Repeated numbers often muddle up your iTunes collection. So, if you know the process to delete songs from iPod of such category, you can save memory space and prevent the collection from being cluttered.

Deleting duplicate iPod songs

1. Open iTunes. Under the file menu, locate the ‘Display Duplicates’ option.
2. A list of all the tracks/ videos that are duplicated in your iTunes library/ device appears on the screen.
3. Consider the songs you want to delete. Make sure that they are not from different albums, though the file names are the same. Take a look at the track summary of the duplicate songs.
4. If possible, make a back-up of the songs you want to delete. You may create a new playlist and fill it with the repeated songs.
5. Now delete manually.

It is not so difficult to delete songs from iPod once you know what needs to be done to remove data from your iPod. Just take some time out and follow the simple method so that you get rid of unwanted songs and videos from your iPod.

Those who have played the iPhone 3G games would surely vouch for the fact that an iPhone is much more than a cell phone. Loaded with features and apps, the iPhone 3G satisfies all your entertainment needs. Superior quality graphics and incredible speed have made the iPhone 3G a sophisticated gaming platform, giving you the experience of playing on a gaming console. It has completely revolutionized cell phone based gaming with previously unseen quality.

Games for the iPhone 3rd gen can be downloaded from Apple’s iPhone app store. Strategy, mystery, adventure or simple fun games, Apple’s app store has a huge collection of high quality iPhone games. Visiting the app store, you can select and download as many games as you want. While some games come free, other games require a certain download fee which can be as low as $0.99 or even high as $6.99.

Top Games For The iPhone 3G

If you are fond of word games try out the iPhone Scrabble. For all Harry Potter fans out there, there is even a Harry Potter game application from Warner Bros. where you can use your favorite spells against opponents – Hogwarts style. And the best part – this game is currently available for free download for a limited period. You can play air hockey with Touch Hockey FS5 or even bring out your inner rock star with Rock Band. At $0.99 the strategy game, Angry Birds, is currently one of the most popular downloads.

Web apps which combine the multi-touch technology with the versatility of the internet, can be downloaded for a host of games for iPhone 3G like Monkey Jump, Skate Duck, Farm Frenzy, Arcade Basketball, iBrickGame or even the popular ones like Tic-Tac-Toe, Sudoku, Chess and Bejeweled.

The iPhone 3G is also open to third party applications

Games are available for free downloads across the internet. Several sites claim to give out iPhone games free, while downloading the same games from iTunes requires a fee. Contrary to their long claims, in the name of free games, these sites often provide older games and trial versions of new games. While the graphics quality is definitely not up to the mark, these files are often corrupt which can infect your system. Such sites are only interested in making profits through pop-up ads and page advertisements. Downloading games for the iPhone from peer-to-peer sites using torrents is not only dangerous because of high chances of viral infections, but also illegal.

Instead, there are sites, which in return of one time membership fee, provide lifetime access to free 3G games. The fee, which ranges around $30 or $50, is used by such sites for maintenance purposes, while you get to download superior quality games and that are free from adware, malware and spyware.

Installing The Games

A number of tutorials and free software are available on the internet for installing these free games. To install apps in your iPhone 3G from sites other than iTunes, first your phone must be jailbroken, which is a safe procedure and you can revert your phone back to its default settings by a simple visit to the iTunes store. Several step-by-step user guides are available for installing free iPhone games.

Now that you have an iPod or an iPhone, it’s time to start filling it up with your favorite music from sites that offer free mp3 music downloads. Not sure of how to go about it or have doubts about which site to choose? Here are some FAQs that will help you out.

Where Can I Download Music onto My iPod?

All you have to do is run a search and you will find a list of sites that offer free downloads for the iPod, iPhone or any other mp3 player. Some of these sites are absolutely free, while others require membership.

How do I choose a site

While there are many sites that offer free music without any fees, it is always safer to choose a site with a paid membership for a number of reasons. Firstly, a free site may involve downloading directly from another station or computer, which poses a threat to your computer’s safety as it could become a victim of attack by viruses and other malware. A membership site, on the other hand, usually offers mp3 downloads for iPods from a secure server. Besides this, there are copyright issues that are associated with sharing music online using a peer-to-peer transfer, as technically the person distributing the music should have legal rights to do so, failing which it becomes a copyright infringement.

1. I have already incurred expenses for buying my iPod. Why should I pay a membership fee and yearly subscriptions to download free mp3 music?

All good things come at a price. When you register on a membership site, you are paying for sound quality, higher download speeds, safety from viruses and an excellent collection of music. Most sites allow you to download free music legally throughout your subscription period, which means you do not have to pay for each song that you download. Besides this, if you calculate the costs that you would be saving by not having to buy or rent CDs, you will realize that you are actually making a saving.

2. How do I know which is the best membership site to download free iPod music from?

Read user reviews to get a feel of the experience that other people have had with some of these sites. This will be a good judge of whether the site delivers what it promises. Alternatively, you can compare the various features offered by the sites offering music downloads, such as membership fees, online customer support and money back guarantee.

If you still have difficulty in making your decision, check out MP3Ddownloadingnet.com. This site is top rated for free mp3 music downloads for iPods. It offers customers unlimited and faster downloads from one of the largest online collection of mp3 music, videos and games, and reasonable subscription fees. You can enroll as a member for a one-time fee of only $14.95 and then choose from a 1-year ($2.49/month), 2-year ($16.44/year) or 3-year ($11.65/year) subscription, which allows you unlimited music downloads during your subscription period.

Let’s just come right out and say it – we’re living in, unfortunately, some very tough economic times. It’s unfortunate for sure, but it’s the reality of things. Because of this though, many people have been wondering about buying a refurbished iPod in order to save money.

Is It Ok To Buy a Refurbished iPod?

Of course it’s okay! A refurbished iPod is just a used iPod that has been cleaned and tinkered with for optimal performance. It’s not unlike buying a used car or a used video game. It’s really a no-brainer if you can’t afford to buy a brand-new one and makes an excellent placeholder (of sorts) until you can afford to buy a brand-new one.

In fact, buying an iPod Touch refurbished is one of the best and most business-savvy decisions you can possibly make thanks to the iPod Touch’s overall lifespan. They age very well and perform optimally for quite some time – several years, in fact – so buying a refurbished iPod Touch is definitely an option for those of you who can’t afford a new one.

Many people mistakenly think that buying a used iPod Touch is essentially buying a piece of junk car. This is simply not true and the fact that it is refurbished usually entails that it’s fully working and free of any problems. If Apple had not made the iPod Touch so well – both inside and out – the aforementioned situation may be the case, but trust us, it’s not.

Of course they do! However unlike the iPod Touch, the iPod Nano – at least the older versions – don’t age as well. If you are indeed going to purchase an iPod Nano refurbished than just make sure to ask that it’s one of the later/newer models. Sure it will cost a tad more but in the end it will be worth it because you won’t have to worry about buying yet another refurbished Nano.

Don’t feel bad about having to buy a refurbished gadget. Like we said before, it’s not much different than buying a used car or video game. That’s just the truth of it right there. If you don’t have the money, why should you go without? It’s stupid to even think of doing such a thing, isn’t it? So rest easy and go ahead and get that refurbished iPod you’ve been thinking about purchasing.

You deserve it! Just don’t forget to bookmark this site for all of your iPod resource needs. There’s really no better place out there on the Internet to get what you can get here completely free. Until next time!

Having to replace iPod Touch screen can be one of the most stressful and hectic things to ever happen to an iPod Touch owner. Thankfully for you, we’ve got your back with good, solid advice of what to do in such a situation.

As a fair warning, you may or may not like the advice we’re about to give you but please know that it comes from a sincere and knowledgeable place. If you haven’t already noticed, we definitely know what we’re talking about – so keep this in mind throughout the rest of the article.

What Should I Do?

Unless you’re technically and handy-man savvy then you’re probably not going to want to try and replace iPod Touch screen all by yourself. This will essentially void your warranty completely and make it so you’ll need to buy a whole brand new iPod Touch device. If you’re savvy enough to do so – then by all means do it yourself. You’ll end up saving yourself a lot of time and money.

However if you don’t know how to do such things, definitely don’t try it. You definitely won’t end up saving yourself a lot of time and money and will instead be wasting vast pools of both in the long run. Which is always a good thing, obviously. If you do know someone who IS savvy enough for this type of thing, definitely give them a call and see if they can fix it for you at some type of discount. Literally ANYTHING is going to be cheaper than the Apple store, but breaking your iPod Touch screen is ultimately going to be the most expensive of all – so definitely heed this advice!

So How Should I Replace It Then?

Well, by calling your friendly local Apple store, of course! Yes, this may be the last thing that you’d ever want to do, but just trust us on this. Unless you know someone who can do such things, you do not want to go fiddling with your screen if you’re not savvy in such matters. You’ll have to pay the Apple store to replace your screen almost always (unless it was broken/damaged under warranty), but otherwise you’re going to have to buy a completely new iPod Touch. And just trust us on this one – this is definitely not something that you want to go ahead and do.

While the Apple store oftentimes gets a very bad rep, a lot of the workers there are actually pretty kind and helpful. Sure, some are snobby and elitists, but this doesn’t encompass all of them. Just do yourself a favor and give your local Apple store a call and see what they tell you to do. You can thank us later when they fix it for you for a fraction of the price of what a new iPod Touch would have cost you!

You’re probably not going to like the advice outlined in this article – but seriously think about it. Have we ever steered you wrong? Or if you’re new to this site – seriously, just take a look around. We know what we’re talking about here and we’re fully dedicated to staying as the number one resource for anything and everything iPod for all Internet users.

Now, let’s get to the topic at hand. Your IPD headphone jack won’t work and you’re looking for a quick and easy iPod Touch headphone jack repair, yes?

Okay, well, brace yourself…

The Bad News

Unless you’re an electrician or deal with electronics such as iPod’s on a daily basis – mechanically we mean, not just tinkering and playing with them – then you’ll likely just have to bring your iPod Touch into the Apple store in order to get your iPod headphone jack fixed.

See? We told you that you’d probably not like the advice and answers in this article and we were right! But we’re telling the truth and, deep down, you know it. So stop pouting and slouching around and accept the truth – it’s the only way you’re going to truly be able to ultimately fix the problem. Just trust us on this one! (And it does get better – as much as it seems like it never will at this point in time…)

Is There Really No Other Way To Fix iT?

Sure, there are a bunch of so-called fixes for iPod headphone jacks on Youtube. But interestingly (and unsurprisingly) enough, almost none of them work. Sometimes you may get lucky and one of the inane yet dangerous fixes may work for you – but nine times out of ten it won’t and you’re really just wasting your time.

The Apple store – while ridiculously expensive at times – exists for this very reason. If you try and fix it yourself, you’ll likely just void your warranty and completely break your iPod Touch – and then you’ll just be shit out of luck.

And we don’t want that, do we?

So man up and call up your local Apple store and tell them your situation regarding your iPod headphone jack. They’ll likely tell you to bring it in for a free consultation – usually of which results in you having to pay to get it repaired.

While it’s definitely expensive, an iPod Touch headphone jack repair fee is exponentially less than what it will cost if you have to buy a whole brand new iPod Touch. Trust us on this and you’ll be good to go, we promise. And don’t forget to bookmark this site so that you can utilize all of our other tutorials and knowledgeable/informational articles in the future. We truly are the best in the biz!
